Newegg and L.L. Bean lead March response time tests

Both retailers were the fastest for Internet Explorer and Firefox.

Newegg.com and LLBean.com produced the best high broadband access times among 24 large web retailers tested in March, according to Compuware Gomez. Last month, Newegg.com generated the best Internet Explorer response time with an average load time of 0.69 seconds. LLBean.com led last month’s Firefox testing with an average of 0.74 seconds.

LLBean.com also finished with the second-best Internet Explorer response time with 0.87 seconds, followed by Apple.com and Overstock.com (tied at 0.94) and Dell.com (0.95).

Dell.com had the second-fastest Firefox response time with an average of 0.83 seconds. Overstock.com (0.87 seconds), Walmart.com (0.99), and OfficeDepot.com and Williams-Sonoma.com (tied at 1.00) rounded out the top five.

In March, the average large retailer’s high broadband response time for a shopper using Internet Explorer was 1.84 seconds, the Compuware Gomez Benchmarks study shows. The average Firefox response time among the same group of retailers last month was 1.79 seconds.
