U.K.-based multichannel retailer John Lewis says it has appointed Paul Coby as director of information technology.  He will join the John Lewis management board and report to managing director Andy Street.

Coby was chief information officer at British Airways for 10 years, where he was responsible for I.T. strategy, design, development and operations.

“Paul's record at British Airways speaks for itself,” says Street.  “He's a heavyweight in the I.T. industry, and therefore it is excellent news that he is joining our business to help us realize our ambition to become a leader in technology.”

The John Lewis Partnership operates, 32 John Lewis shops across the United Kingdom and 244 Waitrose supermarkets.
