Diet and meal-delivery service company eDiets.com has hired Jennifer Hartnett as chief marketing officer. She reports to CEO Kevin McGrath and will oversee all the retailer’s marketing efforts, focusing on customer acquisition, retention and reactivation.

Hartnett has more than 20 years of marketing experience, says eDiets, No. 395 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

She previously worked as vice president of marketing for Parisian Slim, a diet company founded by a former Nutrisystem Inc. executive. Between 2005 and 2009 she worked as creative director of Nutrisystem, another retailer of weight-loss plans that is No. 56 in the Top 500 Guide. She was involved in online advertising campaigns along with other marketing activities. She also has worked for other Top 500 online retailers, including Macy’s Inc. (20) and David’s Bridal Inc. (321).

"Strengthening our strategic marketing efforts is critical to growing our brand during this important time for our business," McGrath says. "Jennifer has a proven track record with leading consumer brands, including a widely recognized weight loss company. Her significant marketing experience and expertise in a broad range of advertising methods will serve us well as we focus on growing our meal delivery business and delivering improved financial results in 2011.”
