Apple.com and Newegg.com produced the fastest high broadband access times among 24 large web retailers tested last month, according to Gomez, the web performance division of Compuware Corp. In January, Newegg.com generated the best Internet Explorer response time with an average time of 0.83 seconds. Apple.com led last month’s Firefox testing with an average access time of 0.74 seconds.
Overstock.com finished with the second best Internet Explorer response time with 0.84 seconds, followed by Dell.com (1.00 seconds), CDW.com (1.13) and LLBean.com (1.15 seconds).
Overstock.com had the second fastest Firefox response time with an average of 0.81 seconds. Dell.com (0.84 seconds), LLBean.com (0.88), and QVC.com and Walmart.com (tied with 0.93) rounded out the top five.
In January, the average top retailer’s high broadband response time for a shopper using Internet Explorer was 1.85 seconds, according to Gomez measurements. The average Firefox response time among the same group of retailers last month was 1.73 seconds.
