QVC’s mobile site, m.QVC.com, produced the fastest iPhone access time among large web retailers in December, says Gomez, the web performance division of Compuware Corp. Last month, m.QVC.com produced an average iPhone mobile response time of 1.67 seconds.

The next best iPhone response time was posted by m.Newegg.com with 2.55 seconds, followed by Williams-Sonoma.com (3.00 seconds), Dell.com (3.48) and OfficeMax.com (3.57).

QVC’s mobile commerce site also led in response time tests for the three other mobile devices measured by Gomez last month: Sprint’s HTC Hero (1.59 seconds), T-Mobile’s HTC Dream (3.81 seconds) and Verizon’s Droid (1.60 seconds). M.Newegg.com also placed second in December tests for each device.

Gomez measured response time as the end-to-end time elapsed while downloading each mobile site.
