Claire Watts started at the retailer in 2008, and recently was president for U.S. commerce.
QVC Inc. has hired Claire Watts as CEO, U.S., a new position for the web and TV retailer. She reports to Mike George, QVC’s president and CEO. Watts, who starts the job immediately, is responsible for the overall strategy and operations of QVC's U.S. business.
QVC is a business unit of Liberty Media Corp., No. 11 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
Watts joined QVC in 2008 as president, U.S. commerce. She helped the retailer develop its mobile shopping channel and launch product lines from Isaac Mizrahi, Liz Claiborne New York, and Rachael Ray. In its latest quarterly financial report, QVC disclosed that U.S. web sales increased 18.2% to $361.7 million in the third quarter of 2010.
“Since joining QVC three years ago, Claire has had an extraordinary impact in making QVC a leading and innovative multichannel retailer," George says. "By taking on these expanded responsibilities, I am confident she will take our U.S. business to new heights, while also allowing me to focus more on QVC's growing global operations."
In her new job, Watts also will oversee QVC's customer fulfillment services team, and assume responsibility for the retailer’s customer service and distribution departments, including three U.S.-based call centers and four U.S.-based distribution centers.
