Revenue increased 11.9% in Q1 of 2015, to $17.26 billion compared with $15.42 billion in the year-ago period.
Consumers can watch live videos and create their own programming around favorite brands.
Television and online retailer HSN Inc. has launched an app for Apple Inc.’s iPad that enables consumers to watch live streaming programs and call up archived videos. Consumers using the app also can create their own personalized channels that focus on favorite brands and product categories, says the company, No. 25 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
“HSN's business exists at the intersection of entertainment, commerce and lifestyle programming, and the iPad technology gives us the perfect platform to deliver our customers an immersive experience that incorporates all three elements," says John McDevitt, HSN’s vice president of advanced services.
Besides watching live streamed video from HSN and HSN 2, consumers can use the app to access 15 channels of on-demand content, including programming that focuses on fashion, jewelry, kitchen, electronics and home. Consumers can watch videos at the top of the iPad screen while browsing related products at the bottom of the screen, HSN says. Shoppers can use the app to buy products from HSN, a spokeswoman for the company says.
The retailer already has released apps for the iPhone and mobile devices that run on Google’s Android or Microsoft’s Window 7 operating systems. HSN also has a mobile site.
