OfficeMax.com had the best Internet Explorer consistency score among large retailers for October, says Gomez, the web performance division of Compuware Corp. Last month the retailer had the best site loading time via Internet Explorer with a variation, or score, of 0.76 seconds. Rounding out the top five retailers in Internet Explorer testing were Dell.com (0.82 seconds), OfficeDepot.com (0.91), LLBean.com (0.95) and QVC.com (0.96).
OfficeMax.com also had the best Firefox consistency score in October, according to Gomez research, with an average variation of 0.59 seconds. LLBean.com came in second (0.67 seconds) followed by OfficeDepot.com (0.85), QVC.com (0.93) and BestBuy.com (1.02).
The average Internet Explorer consistency score of the 25 retailers measured in October was 1.93 seconds. The same group of retailers produced an average Firefox consistency score of 1.77 seconds.
The consistency ratings take into account differences in the speed of web page delivery across multiple visits.
