The athletic apparel retailer also boosts site visits by 50% using customer analytics platform AgilOne.
The purchase of Bergine.com is the first acquisition for parent Gilt Groupe.
Gilt City has bought Bergine.com, a site that offers consumers deals on luxury goods and services on the West Coast. Gilt Groupe Inc. owns Gilt City, which launched early this year and sells event tickets and services ranging from restaurant meals to dry cleaning.
The purchase price was not disclosed. The purchase marks the first acquisition for Gilt Groupe, No. 140 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. Patricia Calfee, Bergine’s co-founder, will oversee West Coast operations for Gilt City, which plans to retain some Bergine employees.
“Bergine shares our core philosophy of carefully selecting the highest quality local experiences and then providing members amazing prices for these luxury opportunities,” says Kevin Ryan, Gilt Groupe’s CEO.
Gilt Groupe offers sales that generally last 36 hours. The company in July named Nate Richardson as president of Gilt City. Last month, Gilt Groupe launched a members-only flash site for men and also started to roll out local deals on Gilt City.
