The mobile technology provider has added bar code scanning and video.
Digby, one of the first technology providers to focus on mobile commerce, has upgraded its platform to include features such as social media integration, bar code scanning and mobile video.
Retailers can use the Digby Mobile Commerce Software Platform to create m-commerce web sites and mobile apps. The platform optimizes for the latest generation of leading smartphones, including mobile devices running the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android operating systems.
Features new to the Digby platform include:
- Bar code scanning, enabling consumers to use a smartphone camera to take a picture of a product bar code while in a store, allowing them to receive additional details about merchandise.
- Video demonstrations, providing a direct connection to product videos.
- Social media, integrating with Facebook and Twitter, as well as E-mail a Friend and customer ratings and reviews.
- Rich, multiple image product views, giving mobile consumers a clear picture of products from all angles.

In addition to the new consumer-facing features, Digby has increased investment in the back-end of its platform, including gaining PCI Level 1 security certification. The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, managed by major payment card networks like Visa and MasterCard, imposes the strictest requirements on the largest, or Level 1, merchants.
