SpaFinder is rolling out electronic gift cards, using the technology of Transaction Wireless, a mobile commerce, payment and marketing company.
SpaFinder Inc. is rolling out electronic gift card technology in a big way-at home and overseas. The company, which operates 9,000 spas and salons in 77 countries, has selected the technology of Transaction Wireless, a mobile commerce, payment and marketing company, to power the electronic gift card program.
The wGiftCard program enables SpaFinder to sell virtual gift cards in bulk quantities to its corporate clients worldwide. SpaFinder clients will be able to distribute the new electronic cards via e-mail, using Transaction Wireless technology.
This agreement marks Transaction Wireless’ first international rollout of its virtual gift card solution. The wGiftCard service will initially launch in North America and the U.K. and then be available in France, Italy, Spain and Germany in the coming months.
“SpaFinder will be able to offer more cost-effective, real-time virtual gift cards and have the option of a simple progression to mobile offerings using our same wGiftCard technology in the future,” says Bruce Springer, president and CEO of Transaction Wireless.
Growth opportunities for corporate gift card, rewards and incentives sales are based on two factors, innovation and the ability to easily expand in global markets, says Steve Kane, senior vice president, gift sales, at SpaFinder. “Our partnership with Transaction Wireless,” he says, “will allow us to accomplish both, by giving our clients the ability to purchase gift cards in bulk quantities and then retrieve them as needed-even one at a time.”
