Bing, the new search engine operated by Microsoft Corp., is doubling customer rebates at participating retailers until the end of this month. Like Ashford.com last week, TheWatchery.com offered a 25% rebate, which the Bing match doubled to 50%. As it did with Ashford.com last week, Microsoft asked TheWatchery.com to scale back its rebate.
The Watchery, No. 278 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, is now offering a 10% rebate that Bing will match to make the rebate 20%. The Watchery also today started a 20% discount on all merchandise priced under $5,000.
“The opportunity to work with Microsoft has been monumental for our business, both in terms of sales and increased customer satisfaction,” Levy says. “We look forward to new joint ventures with them in the future.”
Microsoft has asked retailers who were offering high percentage cashbacks to scale back their offers to ensure that the money Microsoft had budgeted for the program would last until the end of the month.
