Chad Ghosn joins the online furniture retailer from Expedia.
The company is opening a 160,000-square-foot warehouse in Pico Rivera, CA, which complements its warehouse in Milford, CT. The two facilities give 3PL Worldwide bi-coastal coverage to service direct response, e-commerce and catalog marketers.
3PL Worldwide, a third-party logistics provider, is expanding its West Coast operations to include a 160,000-square-foot warehouse in Pico Rivera, CA. The new warehouse is a significant step up from the company’s prior California operation and complements the company’s 150,000-square-foot warehouse in Milford, CT. Together, the two facilities give 3PL Worldwide bi-coastal coverage to service direct response, e-commerce and catalog marketers.
“A larger footprint in California will translate into considerable savings on cost of goods landed, shipping and handling, and faster delivery for our clients,” says president Clyde Mount. “It also means our Western and Midwestern clients will have closer proximity to our warehouse, which cuts down on their travel time.”
As part of the opening, 3PL Worldwide is offering clients new to the company free set-up with no minimum on contracts signed between now and June 30, 2009, using the California location as the primary distribution point. The new 3PL Worldwide warehouse is located 30 minutes from the port of Long Beach, CA, one the West Coast’s most active ports. The company is staffing the facility with a client services team, which will work in tandem with 3PL’s client services group headquartered in Connecticut.
Unifying the two locations is 3PL Worldwide’s inventory management system and customer call center. “The east and west warehouse locations are fully integrated on 3PL Worldwide’s current operating systems, which makes it easy to allocate product between the two facilities and for order management,” explains Randy Pulling, vice president of business development. “One system makes fulfillment much more efficient and cost-effective.”
3PL Worldwide’s proprietary real-time online reporting system, Mission Control, automatically generates e-mails notifying clients when inventory falls to predetermined reorder levels. In addition to providing full inventory management reports, Mission Control generates a suite of financial reports so clients can make fully informed decisions about their campaigns, Pulling adds.
