Target also leads the pack when it comes to paid search spending, a new report finds.
Visitors performed 1,103,968 searches on shopping search engine Sortprice.com during the height of the holiday season, an 18% increase from the same period in 2007.
Sortprice.com experienced an 18% boost in traffic from Nov. 28 through Dec. 24 compared to the previous year, with visitors conducting 1,103,968 searches on the shopping search engine.
“Given the bleak prognosis for holiday shopping that was rampant prior to Thanksgiving in the media and elsewhere, it was really hard to know what to expect. That being said though, we`re thrilled with the increase in searches,” says a Sortprice.com spokesman.
In order of popularity, the top three product searches on Sortprice.com during the 2008 holiday season were Nintendo Wii Console, Samsung LCD TV and Canon PowerShot Digital Camera. In 2007, the top three product searches were Canon PowerShot Digital Camera, Transformers action figures and Xbox 360 Console, according to the spokesman.
This holiday season digital cameras were the most popular search category followed by MP3 players and Nintendo Wii Console and games, according to Sortprice.com.
Sortprice.com, which has a network of more than 5,200 merchants, offers a flat monthly fee for unlimited click-throughs starting at $149.99 to list 25 to 1,000 products on the engine. There are additional fees for posting more products, use of logo, category pages and other terms.
