Computers/electronics retailers provided the highest backbone consistency in October at 99.95%, Gomez Inc. says. The next fastest category was a tie between apparel and accessories retailers and mass merchants at 53.96 seconds, followed by apparel/accessories merchants at 99.90%.

Gomez analyzed availability and response time from the Internet’s distribution network, or backbone, which is another way for retailers to monitor web site performance.

As a group, computers/electronics retailers posted the fastest response time at 1.80 seconds
