Russian web portal Yandex.Money picks Entrust for payment authentication

In a country with less secure Internet infrastructure, portal Yandex.Money looks to boost transaction confidence.

Entrust has expanded its customer base into Russia with its selection by Yandex.Money for payment authentication services. One of the largest Internet portals in Russia, Yandex.Money operates an online payments system and also serves as the largest media partner in Russia for foreign merchants.

With Russia having less secure Internet infrastructure than exists in other countries, Yandex is using Entrust’s services to increase confidence in transaction on security on its platform. Entrust’s Identity Guard product allows retailers to layer levels of security-according to access requirements or the risk of a given transaction-across diverse users and applications, according to the company.

The product’s authentication options include user name and password, IP-geolocation, authentication by machine/device, security questions and answers and other methods. It features web-based administration capability that lets organizations easily distribute administrative tasks to the right individuals, based on role.

Entrust provides payment authentication services to more than 1,700 organizations in 60 countries. Portal Yandex, in operation for more than 10 years, provides web services including free e-mail, news, dictionaries, maps and other features. The site receives more than 30 million unique visitors per month.
