The pet products retailer also announced it has appointed Steve Goldberg, one of the company’s co-founders, as its new CEO.
Edwards joins the company from Lucy Activewear, where he grew the apparel retailer from ten stores to more than 60 as president and CEO. Lucy Activewear in 2007 was acquired by VF Corp. for $110 million. Earlier in his career, Edwards had merchandising and operating roles at JoAnn Stores, No. 210 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide ; West Marine Inc., No. 307; Golfsmith International Holdings Inc., No. 214; and CompUSA.
“Mike Edwards is the ideal candidate to lead Muttropolis from a five-store concept to a leading national specialty retailer,” Goldberg says. “He has extensive experience in both merchandising and operations, and a proven track record in building and growing retail organizations in multiple categories.”
