Shoppers with a broadband connection could visit a mass merchant site in about 6.37 seconds, Gomez says, compared with computers and electronics retailers (6.46 seconds), mass merchants (6.06 seconds), and specialty merchants (6.41 seconds).
When a site is accessed by a dial-up connection, apparel and accessories retailers provided the fastest average access at 46.89 seconds, Gomez says. The next fastest web retailing category was mass merchants at 51.85 seconds, followed by specialty retailers at 51.96.
