Web-only general merchandise retailer Buy.com has signed Howie Mandel, host of the television game show Deal or No Deal, to appear in a series of ads to run over the net two years. The first television commercial featuring Mandel will air nationally this month, according to Buy.com, which is No. 38 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
“Howie is a trusted household figure and led the pack in a survey of favorite personalities conducted with Buy.com customers,” says Neel Grover, CEO and president of Buy.com. “We give people the best deals online – whether that`s on our site or pointing consumers to the lowest price available somewhere else. What better person to bring that message home than Howie Mandel?”
Mandel will appear in a series of radio, online, print and TV ads. The comedian will also help develop the ad concepts, Buy.com says.
"I actually had been telling people for free that they should shop on Buy.com,” Mandel says, “so it is a pleasant surprise to get paid for something I already was doing.”
