The specialty apparel retailer, No. 115 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, has hired Robert J. Luzzi as the company’s new head of marketing.
Luzzi will oversee all aspects of marketing and brand awareness and report directly to Ann Taylor president and CEO Kay Krill. Before joining Ann Taylor he worked as executive vice president, chief marketing/creative director with New York & Company Inc., which he joined in 2003. Luzzi previously spent 10 years at Estee Lauder Inc. and rose to become senior vice president, creative design and advertising worldwide. Luzzi also founded a boutique design firm servicing the fragrance, home textile, entertainment and publishing industries in 1980.
Ann Taylor, which sells online at AnnTaylor.com and AnnTaylorLoft.com, has had a busy summer of executive hiring and promoting. On Aug. 13 Ann Taylor hired Mark Mendelson, previously the chief merchandising officer for Jones Apparel Group Inc., as president of a new retail division and brand, though the company has yet to give out any specifics. In July the retailer also promoted Brian Lynch from executive vice president to president of Ann Taylor Factory.
