Liberty Media names Gregory B. Maffei as permanent CEO

Liberty Media, which owns QVC and QVC.com, has named Gregory B. Maffei as its permanent president and chief executive officer. Maffei had been serving in an interim capacity since November when he replaced outgoing CEO John C. Malone, who is retiring.

 

Liberty Media Corp., which owns and operates QVC and QVC.com, has named Gregory B. Maffei as its permanent president and chief executive officer. Maffei had been serving in an interim capacity since November when he replaced outgoing CEO John C. Malone, who is retiring. Malone will remain as chairman. QVC is No. 15 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites.

Most recently Maffei was president and chief financial officer of Oracle Corp., where he oversaw that company`s financial and administrative functions, including legal, human resources and manufacturing and distribution. Prior to joining Oracle, Maffei spent five years at 360networks Corp. where he was the chairman and CEO.

Before joining 360networks, Maffei spent seven years with Microsoft Corp., including a stint as senior vice president and chief financial officer. As CFO, Maffei was responsible for financial, corporate development and investment activities, including the oversight of Microsoft`s $35 billion cash and strategic investment portfolio.

Robert P. Myers, vice president of merchandising, QVC.com will speak at the Internet Retailer 2006 Conference & Exhibition in a session titled When TV and the Internet Merge, Web Shopping Explodes .
