Grocery and convenience-store chain Giant Eagle saved 20% of the cost of uniforms for 36,000 employees by using the web-based sourcing system from Ariba, the retailer reports.
Giant Eagle Inc., a grocery and convenience-store retailer, saved 20% of the cost of uniforms for about 36,000 employees by using the web-based sourcing system from Ariba Inc., the retailer said today.
"We were very pleased with the results because we were able to source a key item at a substantially lower cost from a local supplier," said Kevin Srigley, Giant Eagle’s senior vice president of marketing. "We secured attractive and functional uniforms made to our exact specifications and ensured that they can be easily delivered to our retail locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland."
Giant Eagle, which operates 214 supermarkets and 94 GetGo fuel-and-food convenience markets, chose the supplier from about a dozen that competed for its business through the Ariba Sourcing spend management system.
