CompUSA Inc. is joining the growing number of big box retailers making a bigger online play for the small business market.
The company, No. 34 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, recently expanded the online inventory at CompUSABusiness.com to include more than 23,000 office supply items such as paper and ink in addition to its line-up of personal computers and electronics gear.
“It makes sense to provide office supplies alongside the technology small and home office owners rely on to get ahead,” says George Coll, vice president business services and corporate strategy.

Increasingly major office supplies retailers and other chains, including Office Depot Inc., Staples Inc. Office Max Inc. and Sam’s Club, are targeting the growing buying power of small businesses, which in 2005 will spend more than $4.7 trillion on a wide variety of goods and services, according to Visa USA.
