Penney’s web sales up 30% in holiday season

Internet sales at J. C. Penney Co. Inc. in November and December increased more than 30% over last year and now exceed $745 million for the year, the company reported this week.

 

Internet sales at J. C. Penney Co. Inc. in November and December increased more than 30% over last year and now exceed $745 million for the year, the company reported this week. Comparable department stores sales were up 3.1% for the two months.

Total sales for the two months were up 2.9% to $5.03 billion from $4.88 billion a year ago. Total sales for the first 11 months of the year were up 4.9% to $17.7 billion from $16.6 billion. The web accounted for 4.3% of all sales.
