Gary Briggs, the marketing whiz behind eBay Inc.’s “Do it eBay” advertising campaign, will take over as the senior executive in charge of eBay Canada, eBay said today. He replaces Todd Madeiros, who will become eBay’s senior director in charge of international acquisitions.
Briggs, an eBay executive since February 2002, will be responsible for development of eBay Canada’s eBay.ca, covering operations, sales and marketing. ComScore notes that eBay Canada led all retail web sites in March 2004 with 9.5 million unique visitors, about 55% of all Canadian Internet users, followed by Amazon.com with 4.9 million.
Before joining eBay, Briggs served as chief marketing officer and co-founder of OurHouse.com, director of worldwide brand strategy for IBM Corp. and marketing director for PepsiCo Inc.
