Web-based sales, including web auctions, at San Francisco-based Sharper Image Corp. grew 21% in August to $3.6 million over August last year, the company reported today. Web-based sales excluding auctions grew 38%. Total company sales for the month increased 40% to $34.5 million from last August`s $24.6 million. Web sales, including auctions, accounted for 18% of all sales vs. 19% a year ago.
Store sales increased 27% to $19.5 million from $15.3 million; comparable store sales increased 15%. Catalog sales increased 81% to $11.4 million from last August`s $6.3 million. Catalog sales, excluding wholesale, increased 38%.
