Movie ticket site has added retail and restaurants to its product mix. Fandango is providing links to CDNow, AllPosters and iSeatz so movie customers can buy soundtracks, videos or posters while they are visiting Fandango, or make dining reservations at nearby restaurants.

Fandango added the services at the end of December in a soft launch to test systems and customer acceptance. The company says the new oifferings have been well received. It tested selling posters by offering Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter posters through e-mail marketing. Response was strong enough to encourgae Fandango to offer the links.

For poster sales, the link from a Fandango movie page takes shoppers directly to the relevant posters at The link varies for soundtracks and DVDs, depending on the movie, Fandango says. Movie memorabilia is a natrual extension, says a Fandango spokeswoman.

Fandango offers movie tickets for 7,000 screens at 600 theaters. Customers can print the tickets at home or pick them up at the theaters. Fandango says its restaurant link will provide a real-time inventory of available tables at nearby restaurants. reports 2.2 million visits from 1.37 million customers in February. Fandango’s customers tend to be slightly younger but significantly higher income than the Internet population in general with a higher proportion of broadband connections than the Internet in general, reports comScore Networks Inc.

Using a combination of natural language search capabilities and usefulness ranking, the enhanced Fandango customer service interface automatically provides users with the most relevant answers to their questions based on customers` previous inquiries and interactions, all updated in real-time. also offers movie trailers, reviews and personalized customer account summaries. Ticket buyers can also call 1-800-555-TELL to order tickets.
