eBay launches a wine auction site

EBay, the online auction site, has added a wine category to its home and garden section. It is testing wine sales with New Vine Logistics and Winetasting.com.

EBay, the online auction site, has added a wine category to its home and garden section. It is testing wine sales with New Vine Logistics and Winetasting.com, which will list the wine for sale in the new area. ChannelAdvisor Corp. will provide the listing and auction management software for the category.

"We are excited about working with exclusively with ChannelAdvisor to build out our new wine category," said Bob Hebeler, vice president of eBay. "ChannelAdvisor`s technology and service helps eBay bring merchants to the eBay marketplace and provides assistance while growing new categories on eBay."

During this trial period, the licensed sellers will be the only oness able to sell wine on eBay. Any other sellers wanting to sell wine on eBay must go through one of the licensed, vetted sellers.
