Mothers Work Inc.`s February sales increased 3.3% from February 2000 while web sales jumped 55%.
Total sales in February for maternity apparel retailer Mothers Work Inc. increased 3.3% to $27.9 million from $27 million for February 2000. Although still a minor part of the company`s total revenue, Internet sales increased 55% above February 2000. Rebecca Matthias, president and CEO of Mothers Work, noted, "Our revenue growth continued during February due to new stores and web sales, but we recorded our second consecutive month of negative comparable store sales. We are clearly being influenced by a slowing economy, which will have a detrimental effect on earnings."
