The search giant today rolled out new ways for marketers to understand the in-store impact of their ads.
To cover an industry, a magazine has to know the people who shape it. That is why we put industry leaders on the cover and rely heavily on interviews with experts explaining strategies, marketing plans, technology solutions. As we get closer to the industry, it’s only fitting for those we cover to learn more about us.
So permit me to introduce my new team-Vertical Web Media-which produces this magazine. Kurt Peters has been my partner for 17 years. Together we founded and built Faulkner & Gray, with me as CEO and Kurt as EVP in charge of our Electronic Payments, EDI Publishing and EC Media divisions. Kurt was group publisher of such industry-leading titles as Health Data Management, Insurance Networking and Financial Service OnLine. He led the team that created Internet Retailer, which we acquired from F&G in July as the basis of our new company. A consummate editor, Kurt serves as the editor of this magazine.
Nancy Bernardini has been my business partner since joining F&G in 1988 as advertising sales rep on our first magazine-Credit Card Management. By building excellent customer relationships, she became CCM’s associate publisher and was later chosen associate publisher of Card Marketing, a magazine she helped launch. Nancy was chosen ad director and AP of Internet Retailer in early 1999, and its steady advertising growth since then underscores the wisdom of that choice.
Tom Chambers worked at F&G for 13 years, starting as production editor of CCM, where he pioneered our desktop publishing. Tom at various times oversaw F&G’s magazine, newsletter and directory production, before joining our team as director of production. Molly Rogers joined F&G in 1998 as marketplace director of Collections & Credit Risk and built its classified advertising 50%. She took over a similar position at Internet Retailer in June-with similar results. A former sales rep for Kraft, Molly brings a good understanding of merchant relationships.
Senior Editor Andrea McKenna Findlay has covered business news for seven years, five of them at F&G, where most recently she was editor of CardFax, the premier electronic daily news service for the credit-debit card industry. An early contributor to Internet Retailer focusing on Internet payments and cataloger web programs, Andrea in June made the bold leap to full-time IR editor-and to entrepreneurial publishing.
The newest additions evidence our commitment to editorial excellence. Senior Editor Mary Wagner has 25 years of journalism experience with Modern Healthcare, the Chicago Tribune, Internet World and ADA News. She joined IR in July. Managing Editor Rick Markley wrote for newspapers and magazines for 10 years before joining IR in July after three years with Rock Products, a mining publication. Rick confirms my belief that a good reporter can learn any industry.
