“The Demandware Summer ’09 release contains several compelling features that support our strategic plans," said Larry Promisel, Vice President of eCommerce at Barneys New York. “In particular, Active Merchandising provides enhanced selling capabilities to deliver a targeted, relevant, engaging online shopping experience, driven by the Barneys team to further strengthen the relationship with our clients.”
Active Merchandising Sets New Standard in Site Merchandising
Active Merchandising is a data-driven online selling engine that controls and automates merchandising interactions across search, personalization, analytics, promotions and catalog. Triggered by such merchandising data as online shopping behavior, inventory positions and product margins, Active Merchandising automates optimal site merchandising actions, all with complete merchant oversight and control. By putting control in the hands of the merchandiser through intuitive interfaces and easy-to-manage rules, Active Merchandising sets the new standard for site merchandising efficiency, breadth and profitability.
Active Merchandising includes innovation in four key categories:
• Personalized Merchandising provides the ability to dynamically segment customers into groups which can be tied to different merchandising offers that are rendered into merchandising slots on a Web page.
• Searchandising combines a comprehensive search engine with ecommerce data and rules that automate the ranking of sort orders. By setting data thresholds that trigger search results through an easy-to-use interface, merchants can guide customers to optimal products and purchases.
• Analytics-Driven Merchandising includes a revolutionary data model and analytics engine that combines real-time on-line data, such as sales velocity, average sales price, return rate and product impressions, with off-line data from in-store or backend systems for accurate, rules-driven searchandising, product recommendations and site personalization.
• Core Merchandising leverages a single, task-based user interface to create a holistic view of merchandising and quickly and easily control all merchandising capabilities.
“Merchandising for online retailers should be as revered as visual merchandising is in physical retail. It is the engine that unites customer and product. Demandware`s Active Merchandising is a major step forward, putting sophisticated active merchandising capabilities into the hands of the online merchant. It will help retailers both drive revenue and reduce manual tasks,” said Michael Ross, Co-Founder and Director of eCommera, a leading provider of end-to-end ecommerce solutions based in the United Kingdom and a Demandware partner.
