Brits will also spend slightly more than Americans on their dads this year.

More than 61% of U.K. consumers say they’ll use the web to find Father’s Day gifts this year, compared with 46% of U.S. consumers who say the same. Father’s Day this year falls on Sunday, June 16.
Those numbers come from two surveys. Price comparison site PriceGrabber.co.uk surveyed 447 U.K. shoppers online between May 13 and June 3. Web-only mass merchant Overstock.com Inc. surveyed 400 U.S. shoppers online between June 3 and June 10. Overstock is No. 31 in the Internet Retailer 2013 Top 500 Guide.
Brits also plan to spend more on their dads than U.S. shoppers. The majority of respondents to the PriceGrabber survey said they plan to spend £25.00-£49.00 (roughly $39-$77) on Father’s Day gifts, while Overstock’s U.S. respondents said they plan to spend $10-$50 on their dads this year.
The National Retail Federation trade association projects that Father’s Day this year will draw $13.3 billion in total spending in the United States, according to a poll of 5,706 consumers conducted May 1-8 for the NRF by consumer research company BIGinsight. Of the consumers in that poll, 29.8% say they’ll shop online for Father’s Day this year, up from 28.4% in 2012.
Additionally, 20.3% of consumers in the poll that own tablets say they’ll use them to make a Father’s Day purchase this year, the NRF says. Meanwhile 51.5% of tablet owners in the poll say they’ll research products, compare prices, redeem coupons and look up store information on their devices before purchasing a gift; 42.6% of smartphone owners in the poll say they’ll do the same with those devices.
