Lyons Consulting Group, a Chicago-based e-commerce consulting and design firm, is expanding its offices in Ann Arbor, MI, citing the rich e-commerce talent base in the area. Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan. It is also the home of Fry Inc., an e-commerce consultancy and design firm owned by Micros Retail, and customer satisfaction measurement firm Foresee.
Lyons opened its first office in Ann Arbor last summer and staffed it with software developers working on eBay Inc.’s Magento and Demandware Inc.’s e-commerce platforms. The new, larger office adds positions for sales and account management, project management, engineering, creative design, quality assurance testing and retail strategy, among others, the company says. Lyons Consulting Group will hire 30 people to staff the office by mid-2013.
“Given Ann Arbor’s depth of talent, experience and e-commerce know-how, it was a logical destination,” says Rich Lyons, president and CEO of Lyons Consulting Group.
The company says it is investing $1.1 million in the expansion. It also secured financial incentives worth more than $300,000 from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. and the City of Ann Arbor. Lyons Consulting Group worked with Ann Arbor Spark, a non-profit economic development firm, to help negotiate its expansion.
Lyons Consulting Group is listed as the site design vendor for two e-retailers in Internet Retailer’s Second 500 Guide, MMA Warehouse LLC (No. 716) and SmileyCookie.com (No. 979).
