Bonobos.com: Racing to render

Speedy page load times keep customers happy at Bonobos.

Bonobos.com’s large, bright images catch the eye, but don’t noticeably slow down page load times. That’s thanks to a recent overhaul of the site’s product and category feeds engine, says user experience manager Jon Schlossberg. “Our category pages are now twice as fast as Amazon's,” he says. “We've repeatedly seen that increasing page performance by even a fraction of a second can meaningfully improve conversions.” The newfound speed has reduced bounce rates, and increased average order value and conversion rates. Bonobos drives further sales with improved fit descriptions and by remembering what sizes a repeat shopper selected before when he returns to the site, Schlossberg says. The site also now displays targeted content to shoppers based on such factors as location.
