PFSweb Inc., which already operates the e-commerce platform and fulfillment center for several Top 500 retailers, is expanding its relationship with another big name: L’Oreal SA.
Under a five-year agreement PFSweb signed in 2010 with L’Oreal USA, a unit of L’Oreal, the vendor now operates e-commerce sites for L’Oreal’s Kiehl’s, Lancôme, Yves St. Laurent Beauté and Giorgio Armani Beauty brands.
In 2012, PFSweb, which also provides various e-commerce services for Lego Brand Retail Inc., No. 143 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, The Home Depot Inc. (No. 43) Sephora USA Inc. (No. 116) and others, will launch two additional web stores for L’Oreal, though the company didn’t identify the brands.
PFSweb will handle e-commerce platform management, transaction processing and fulfillment for all L’Oreal web sites. “With their help we can provide considerably more flexible, functional and effective solutions to our customers,” says L’Oreal USA vice president of luxury direct Daren Hull. “By utilizing PFSweb, we are able to give each of our brands unique consideration, while also providing our consumers the same high-quality service that they find anytime they experience our brands in stores.”
L’Oreal USA continues to expand its e-commerce base in part through acquisition. In December L’Oreal USA acquired Pacific Bioscience Laboratories Inc., a manufacturer and online retailer of sonic skin care devices, for an undisclosed sum. As part of the deal L’Oreal USA will oversee Pacific Bioscience’s e-commerce site, Clarisonic.com.
