Tealeaf Technology Inc., which sells web site optimization software, says it has acquired web analytics and testing software vendor Overstat Inc. Tealeaf says the acquisition will help it extend its offerings and develop new products.

Tealeaf did not say how much it paid for Overstat, which sells web-based programs for web site testing, including visual heat maps that show how consumers interact and respond to a web page.

“The acquisition of Overstat enables Tealeaf to extend our capabilities by adding even more context about the user experience, so that any company with an online presence can take action to optimize their sites and applications and drive significant business outcomes,” says Rebecca Ward, chairman and chief executive of Tealeaf.

Eighteen retailers listed in Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide use Tealeaf for web performance monitoring, including Best Buy Co. (No. 11), Sears Holdings Corp. (No. 7) and HSN Inc. (No. 26).
