Online marketing company Lyris Inc. has acquired U.K. e-mail marketing firm Facultas, which has been reselling Lyris services in Europe since 2004. Lyris says the move will better enable it to provide full-service offerings to multinational companies.

Lyris also announced it would open a new office in central London, and named Donna McNicholas to head the sales team based there. McNicholas had recently been appointed U.K. sales director for Lyris. Andrew Robinson, the former owner and managing director of Facultas, will become director of international professional services at Lyris.

“We have seen tremendous momentum for our Lyris HQ integrated marketing suite in the U.S. and recognize a large opportunity in the European market for a SaaS-based, online marketing solution,” says Luis Rivera, CEO of Lyris, whose products are delivered via a hosted, software-as-a-service model. “The services expertise of the Facultas team combined with new executive talent in the UK provides Lyris with a strong presence in Europe and will afford extended resources and market knowledge to new and existing Lyris customers worldwide.”

Several of Facultas’ clients use Lyris e-mail marketing technology, including the British Museum, Hand Picket Hotels and sports apparel e-retailer Kitbag.com. “Facultas customers can now reap the many value-add benefits that come from being serviced by a global organization and take advantage of the vast array of technology, services and industry expertise Lyris has to offer,” Robinson says.
