Navy Exchange Service Command Selects ExactTarget to Power Email Marketing System

Decision Aimed at Improving Communications to Military Service Members Worldwide

INDIANAPOLIS (March 27, 2009) – ExactTarget, a leading provider of on-demand email and one-to-one marketing solutions, announced today that the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) has selected the company to power the email marketing campaigns for all Navy Exchange retail stores worldwide.

NEXCOM, which operates more than 100 Navy Exchanges on Navy bases around the globe, chose to replace its existing home-grown database email marketing system with ExactTarget’s Enterprise Edition software following an evaluation of multiple email service providers.

“The marketing system we developed allowed us to reach our customers, but it didn’t allow us to provide the personalized service our customers and their families deserve,” said Michael Conner, Vice President Marketing for NEXCOM. “We are looking to ExactTarget to bring us the ability to manage customer accounts and preferences, send automated purchase confirmation emails and deliver a visually appealing email.”

The two organizations are currently working to transfer subscriber lists into ExactTarget’s enterprise software and plan to begin sending email marketing messages such as product news, personalized email offers and customer communications in April. The move to ExactTarget will also allow the Command’s subscribers to choose how often they want to receive information.
