Shoppers with a high broadband connection in August could visit a mass merchandise site in about 5.77 seconds, says Gomez, compared with computer/electronics merchants in 6.17 seconds and apparel and accessories retailers in 6.21 seconds.

Shoppers with a high broadband connection in August could visit a mass merchandise site in about 5.77 seconds, says Gomez Inc., compared with computer/electronics merchants (6.17 seconds), apparel and accessories retailers (6.21 seconds) and specialty merchants (6.64 seconds).
When a site is accessed by a dial-up connection, mass merchandise retailers provided the fastest average access at 50.22 seconds, Gomez says. The next fastest category was apparel and accessories retailers at 53.96 seconds, followed by apparel/accessories merchants at 53.96 seconds.
Mass merchandise sites provided the fastest low broadband access in August at 18.41 seconds.
