Kohl’s Corp. is beefing up its e-commerce business with new order management technology and by doubling the size of its online sales fulfillment center. Kohl’s chose Allurent Inc.’s Rich Commerce Suite to improve conversion rates and reduce checkout abandonment on its e-commerce site, Kohls.com. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Kohl’s, No. 208 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, will deploy Allurent’s Checkout module to upgrade customers’ online transactions. The overall software package will help “create a compelling online shopping experience,” said Mike Molitor, senior vice president of e-commerce at Kohl’s.
Allurent Checkout streamlines the purchase transaction so customers don’t get frustrated with the checkout process, the vendor says. The software uses an e-retailer’s existing e-commerce infrastructure and modules can be configured to match the retailer’s level of customer interaction.
Kohl’s notes the new technology follows a commitment to making its web site a more convenient place to shop. In the same vein, the chain retailer is doubling the size of its e-commerce fulfillment center in Monroe, Ohio.
The expanded facility, slated for completion this spring, will occupy 900,000 square feet and is designed to “support e-commerce growth,” according to the company’s annual 10K filing.
