SUPERVALU and Redbox to Offer Customers $1 Per Night Movie Rentals

MINNEAPOLIS, February 6, 2007 – SUPERVALU (NYSE: SVU) announced today that it will roll out redbox fully automated DVD rental kiosks to its Acme, Albertsons, bigg’s, Farm Fresh, Hornbacher’s, Jewel-Osco, Scott’s Food & Pharmacy, Shaw’s, Shop ‘n Save and Shoppers Food & Pharmacy banners, as well as to hundreds of the independent retailers it serves through its Supply Chain Services business. The redbox DVD rental kiosks enable customers to use a touch screen to select a movie and pay with a credit or debit card.

“Offering our customers in-store DVD rentals is just another way we are striving to make our customers’ busy lives easier,” said Duncan Mac Naughton, SUPERVALU executive vice president, Merchandising and Marketing. “This service will enable our customers to combine two trips and save time.”

The agreement with redbox, the nation’s leader in automated DVD rental services, follows a successful pilot in several SUPERVALU banners and locations.

“We are thrilled with the continued success of redbox and the opportunity to build our reach and service SUPERVALU customers,” said Gregg Kaplan, chief executive officer, redbox. “This is a great opportunity to introduce more consumers to the redbox experience.”

Each fully automated redbox DVD rental kiosk holds more than 500 DVDs, representing more than 70 of the newest movie releases, with new titles available every Tuesday. Consumers simply use a touch screen to select their favorite movies, swipe a valid credit or debit card and go. Customers can keep the DVD for as long as they’d like for $1 per night plus tax, and return their DVD to any redbox kiosk nationwide. For added convenience, customers can visit www.redbox.com to choose their favorite title online and pick it up immediately at the redbox location of their choice.
