Apple leads in September traffic to top 10 computer hardware sites

With traffic up 44%, Apple recorded the most traffic among the top 10 computer manufacturer sites in September, reports Nielsen/NetRatings.

Apple Computer Inc. recorded the most traffic among the top 10 computer hardware manufacturer sites in September, with 37.2 million visits, up 44% from 25.8 million a year earlier, Nielsen/NetRatings reports.

Dell Inc. ranked second, with 15.9 million visits, up 3% from 15.5 million; followed by Hewlett Packard Co., 13.7 million, up 8% from 12.7 million; Sun Microsystems, 3 million, up 50% from 2 million; IBM Corp., 2.5 million, down 26% from 3.4 million; Gateway Inc., 2.1 million, up 17% from 1.8 million; Linksys, 1.8 million, up 50% from 1.2 million; Nintendo, 1.7 million, up 117% from 785,000; Logitech, 1.3 million, up 18% from 1.1 million; and palmOne Inc., 1.3 million, down 19% from 1.6 million.

In the top 10 computer hardware manufacturers sites ranked by time per visit, Apple led with 1 hour, 3 minutes, 37 seconds; followed by Dell, 17 minutes, 6 seconds; IBM, 13 minutes, 40 seconds; Hewlett Packard, 12 minutes, 9 seconds; XBOX, 10 minutes, 51 seconds; Cisco Systems, 10 minutes, 40 seconds; Gateway, 10 minutes, 6 seconds; palmOne, 9 minutes, 37 seconds; Creative Technology Ltd., 8 minutes, 58 seconds; and Epson, 8 minutes, 24 seconds.

Also in September, the books-movies-music category led all retail goods and services segments in the number of online advertising impressions, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance report.
