Benefits from Fujitsu`s Relentless Cost Reduction Focus
Frisco , Texas - 12/06/2005 -- Specialty retailer HDS Retail North America, a division of Hachette Distribution Services (HDS), which operates the largest global network of retail outlets dedicated to the sale of media and entertainment products (3,600 stores in 19 countries) including internationally recognizable store brands as RELAY and VIRGIN, has selected Fujitsu`s complete in-store and back-office technology and services for its stores across North America. The Fujitsu store system includes GlobalSTORE POS and StoreCENTER software; TeamPoS 2000M terminals; iPAD handheld devices and a complete range of lifecycle services including rollout and ongoing maintenance.
Toronto-based HDS Retail North America (HDS RNA), with more than 325 stores in Canada and the United States, will benefit from Fujitsu`s relentless pursuit in helping retailers reduce their total cost of store technology through deployment of reliable POS hardware, utilizing SmartPoS remote monitoring and diagnostic capabilities and leveraging Fujitsu`s innovative Retainer Plus Services Model. The Retainer Plus Services Model is a collaborative approach that removes low-value activities and costs from the traditional, insurance-driven maintenance service delivery models to create quarterly savings that flow directly to the retailer`s bottom line.
"In searching for a single vendor to deliver a fully-integrated POS solution that would not only meet our current requirements but, more importantly, provide the foundation to easily add new capabilities in the future, Fujitsu`s extensive offering of integrated software, hardware and services was the ideal choice," said John Bostock, Chief Information Officer for HDS RNA. "The new solution will enable transformation of our existing business processes into a much more efficient operation and allow our sales associates to better serve our customers. We have had a long-standing relationship with Fujitsu which has been providing maintenance services for our existing POS system. During the new POS selection process, the positive feedback we received from Fujitsu customer references reinforced our confidence and trust in them."
"The GlobalSTORE and StoreCENTER solutions are a great fit for HDS RNA and the applications` flexibility facilitates easy customization to mold the applications to exactly fit their business processes," said Keith McNamara, Senior Vice President of software operations at Fujitsu. "Fujitsu`s solution fits multiple store formats, including small stores that require local inventory functionality."
Fujitsu`s suite of store systems software is engineered based on an open services oriented architecture (SOA) to facilitate rapid customization. Fujitsu`s StoreCENTER solution complements the GlobalSTORE POS application to deliver real-time data and reports on consumer demand at every touch point.
