VeriFone Omni 3750 IP-Enabled Terminal Earns Certification from Six Major U.S. Processors

Initial demand for more than 50,000 units in first year proves strong market acceptance

LAS VEGAS, Nev., April 20, 2004 -- The VeriFone Omni 3750 IP-enabled point of sale terminal, first demonstrated at the Annual ETA Meeting and Expo in 2003, has turned into this year`s success story, having achieved certification by six major processors and the completion of several rollouts with major Quick Service Restaurants and retailers including Chick-fil-A, Burger King, Taco Bueno and Ford Motor Company.

Among the leading processors that have already certified the Omni 3750 IP-enabled terminal are:
§ Fifth Third Bank
§ First Data (CardNet and EFSNet Hosts)
§ Lynk Systems
§ NPC
§ Paymentech NetConnect
§ Vital VirtualNet

With this achievement the VeriFone Omni 3750 has the most comprehensive array of certifications in the market today for any IP-enabled terminal, making it easy for ISO`s to work with their preferred processor.

"We expect that some of our competitors will follow with copy-cat product announcements this week following our very successful lead with Ethernet-enabled solutions," said Jesse Adams, executive vice president of North American sales at VeriFone. "The fact is that we`re currently shipping products that are fully certified by the US processor community while our competitors will still only be shipping marketing brochures for the next year or longer. Our IP-enabled terminal has been fully embraced by processors and ISO`s who have already proven it is an excellent upgrade path for merchants and creates competitive churn opportunities that didn`t exist a year ago."

The all-in-one Omni 3750 terminal features an array of interchangeable communications modules supporting 2400bps, 14.4Kbps, Ethernet or ISDN technologies. VeriFone is further extending its lead in the IP-enabled terminal space this year by adding CDMA, GPRS and Wi-Fi wireless technologies to the list of upgrade options soon to be available for the Omni 3750. These new 3G wireless solutions fully leverage the terminal`s modular architecture and existing base of IP-enabled applications. VeriFone will demonstrate this comprehensive suite of advanced communication options at the Electronic Transactions Association Annual Meeting and Exposition April 20-22 in Las Vegas, NV (booths 404 & 405).

The all-in-one Omni 3750 terminal features EMV 4.0 smart card certification, the toughest standards for EMV smartcards, Triple DES (3DES) PIN security and up to 4MB of memory for value-added applications. The Omni 3750 features a powerful 32-bit processor to meet the security and networking demands of Internet Protocol (IP) communications. It features up to 4MB of memory to support plenty of value-added applications. It supports advanced communications such as Ethernet, built on IP technology, which fuels "always-on" connectivity, and it has the power to securely send transactions over public or private networks using industry standard SSL encryption.

The Omni 3750 features a removable communications module that can be upgraded at deployment or in the field. Finally, Triple DES and PED security help stem the tide of fraudulent tactics such as card skimming, and the Omni 3750 supports the entire set of 3DES requirements, including 3DES Master Session and 3DES DUKPT.
