CLUB MED SAILS THROUGH ITS PRODUCT INFORMATION MANAGEMENT WITH PINDAR SYSTEMS’ AGILITY

CHICAGO – (September 9, 2003) – Pindar Systems, the leader in product information management solutions, has been deployed in over a dozen blue chip U.S. and European companies including Fisher Scientific, Allied Electronics, Littlewoods, Argos, John Lewis Direct, El Corte Ingles and Club Méditerranée.

Using Pindar Systems’ Agility technology, Club Med has created a worldwide marketing database for all its products and services including 120 sea and mountain villages, villas and cruise ships in over 50 countries.

From one single electronic source, Club Med can create multiple language versions of marketing messages for multi-channel output.

“Agility is enabling Club Med to centralize product information enterprise-wide, and for the first time ever, integrate and give market-specific flexibility across all its divisions from the U.S. to Europe and the Far East,” explained Ducarne.

“Using Agility, local business managers can generate catalogs in the native tongue and currency of customers and account for their idiosyncrasies, while maintaining the ‘look and feel’ of the Club Med brand,” said Ducarne.

Agility guarantees accurate and reliable information, critical to Club Med for both commercial and legal reasons. It also allows ‘last minute’ changes to product information, such as pricing.

“We are taking advantage of this facility to launch our “new season” in markets where Club Med is well known before our competitors. In markets where Club Med is not yet as well established, we will publish a few days after our competitors and publish prices below those of the competition,” said Ducarne.

Club Med’s competitive edge will be further strengthened by its shortened production cycle. Lead times were reduced by four weeks in Club Med’s first catalog production using Agility and are expected to be cut further in the forthcoming winter catalog schedule.

This has been accomplished without adding additional resources, as Agility supports Club Med’s existing technical architecture, J2EE three-tier application with Weblogic, Oracle Database, UNIX server and XML data export.

The move to Agility is particularly timely as the company continues to broaden its product line to include tours and travel agency services, sports academies and company-branded sportswear, as well as health and beauty products. The company is also expanding its promotional channels, including city-based Club Med World centers and more extensive online offerings.
