Multimedia Live Technology and Collaborative Design Provide These Sites with a Gallery Atmosphere, Powerful Merchandising Capabilities, and Long-Term Value
Petaluma, CA -- February 20, 2003 -- Multimedia Live (MML) (http://www.mmlive.com), the leading developer of e-commerce technology and services for Intelligent Selling(tm) on the Web, announced today that it has created new websites for catalogers Design Toscano (http://www.designtoscano.com) and Basil Street (http://www.basilstreet.com). Both sites are owned and operated by Design Toscano, and both run on the MarketLive(tm) Express e-commerce platform from Multimedia Live. The MarketLive Express application enabled these websites to meet their strategic goals: increasing sales, enhancing merchandising capabilities, providing an online product showcase, tying the sites more closely to their catalogs, and adding standard and custom features that make shopping easier and more enjoyable.
Design Toscano is a cataloger of historical and antique replicas, specializing in reproductions of garden fountains, statuary, furniture, and other art items. Basil Street offers exact replicas of oil painting masterworks, fine prints under glass, tapestries, decorative accents, and statuary. The company selected Multimedia Live because of its in-depth knowledge of e-commerce and because its MarketLive Express technology is perfectly suited to presenting clients` brands and diverse product lines on the Web.
MarketLive Express uses the full version of Multimedia Live`s Java(tm)-based MarketLive(tm) Intelligent Selling System(tm) as its technological core. This gives Design Toscano full access to a complete range of merchandising features and capabilities, including product groups, Tell a Friend, Gift Registry, search by keyword or artist name, alternate or enlarged views, and much more. Design Toscano`s design firm worked closely with MML designers to take advantage of the MarketLive Express application`s template-based design approach to create customized sites while ensuring rapid development and a time-tested path-to-purchase. The easy-to-use administration system allows Design Toscano and Basil Street staff to easily and efficiently add or update products, prices, promotions, artist biographies, and other site messaging without resorting to costly programming. A complete hosting and managed services package is part of the MarketLive Express solution, and one monthly fee covers everything.
The MarketLive Express application and its standard features provide easy site administration, advanced content management, and page design templates that can be revised by the client`s staff. Additional custom programming created interactive versions of features from the Design Toscano and Basil Street catalogs, such as clickable icons denoting exclusive items, no-rush shipping, historic replicas, and more. The "Shop by Artist" feature allows customers to see all pieces from a specific artist quickly and easily. The MarketLive Extended E-Mail Management System was also integrated into the site to facilitate e-mail marketing. Multimedia Live programmers integrated the new websites with Design Toscano`s legacy backend system from Ecometry. A new customized product upload system allows both websites to be updated with a single data upload, with individual products tagged for display on one or both sites.
"Both sites are truly online galleries, particularly the Basil Street site," said Ken Burke, Multimedia Live President and CEO. "Our job was to re-create the gallery atmosphere online and back it up with a technological foundation that supports both sites` strategic goals, from long-term value right down to the function of each feature. MarketLive Express is more and more the application of choice for companies that need a site with a stellar customer experience, powerful product presentation, full e-commerce functionality, and a high return on investment."
