Canada`s Largest Retail Drug Store Group Chooses Transactionware Enterprise for Next-Generation POS Platform to Support Long-Term Business Objectives, While Reducing Total Cost of Ownership
TORONTO--April 25, 2002-- Triversity Inc., a leading software provider delivering integrated, customer-centric solutions for the retail industry, today announced that Shoppers Drug Mart, Canada`s largest retail drug store group, will implement Triversity`s Transactionware Enterprise(tm) in stores across the country.
The new point-of-sale (POS) system will enable Shoppers Drug Mart to replace its legacy POS system with an enterprise-ready solution that will grow and expand with the business, integrate with existing technologies, support new initiatives and ultimately result in significant cost savings for the company.
Transactionware Enterprise, Triversity`s revolutionary J2EE (Java 2.0 Enterprise Edition)-based enterprise transaction processing solution provides a foundation for a suite of customer-centric applications integrating all points of interaction (POI) across the enterprise to create a single, multi-channel customer relationship platform. Starting in 2003, the new POS system will be rolled out in approximately 5,000 POS terminals across all of its drug store locations.
Shoppers Drug Mart`s older software had begun to reach its functional limits. Shoppers Drug Mart was seeking a retail technology vendor that mirrored its own commitment to J2EE-based technology and determined that Triversity was leading the industry as the first retail solutions provider to deliver a true J2EE-based POS solution.
With an open J2EE architecture that provides seamless integration with any hardware platform, database, Web or application server, Transactionware Enterprise enables infrastructure connectivity that will allow Shoppers Drug Mart to fully leverage existing technology and programs, while growing its business.

Transactionware Enterprise`s open J2EE architecture allows Shoppers to maintain its high level of customer service through integration and extension of its existing programs. Triversity`s retail technology will integrate with the company`s HEALTHWATCH program.
Transactionware Enterprise will also integrate with Shoppers Drug Mart`s merchandising system, giving their drug store operators continued access to "real-time" data regarding product inventory and support for efficient, standardized stock replenishment and pricing in every location. Transactionware Enterprise`s open architecture offers complete integration and extensibility of the system.
In addition, Transactionware Enterprise will integrate with the Shoppers Optimum Card(R) system to continue the success of Shoppers Drug Mart`s loyalty program. Based on points garnered by Optimum customers at the POS, Shoppers Drug Mart analyzes up-to-the-minute information in order to maximize customer loyalty and spending, while making accurate, informed decisions about how to best meet -- and foresee -- the needs of its customer base.
