--BizRate’s March Vs. February 2002 Unique Visitor Growth Is Up By 36.4% --
Los Angeles, CA -- April 18, 2002 – BizRate.com, a leading comparison shopping site and e-commerce research firm has become a top gainer in traffic growth for March 2002, according to Jupiter Media Metrix’s most recent rankings. BizRate’s traffic grew 36.4% from February to March of this year to 7,263 million unique visitors, making BizRate.com the sixth top gaining property by unique visitor growth in the U.S.
“Online retailing experienced a boom in the first quarter of this year with sales up by 41% year over year. As we are a starting point for online shopping, the industry’s growth has a positive spin-off effect on comparison shopping sites like BizRate.com, which grew almost that much in one month. More than a third of online shoppers say they visit a comparison shopping site most of the time they shop online, “ said Chuck Davis, President & CEO of BizRate.com.
Davis also attributed BizRate.com’s traffic growth to the power of information online and the consumer’s desire to research pricing and products online. “Comparison shopping becomes addictive for shoppers,” he continued. “Shoppers like price shopping and once they see the power of pricing information available online, they return to buy more online knowing they can always get a great deal from a great merchant.”
BizRate.com does the work and research for the consumer by scanning more than 4 million products and 2,000 merchants in seconds, and provides the shopper with the best price options in the context of the best quality merchants. BizRate.com features over 250 daily deals from across the Web, like free shipping. “It would take days and weeks for the consumer to do this depth of research on their own – even online,” concluded Davis.
According to the Winterberry Group, by 2005, B2C e-commerce sales are forecasted to reach $278 billion, and comparison shopping engines are expected to influence $25 billion of that projection.
