Newgistics Creates Alliance With Spiegel-Hermes General Service

AUSTIN, Texas--April 23, 2001--Newgistics Inc. and Spiegel-Hermes General Service LLC (SHGS) have entered a service provider alliance for SHGS to provide soft goods and apparel processing for Newgistics` ReturnValet(tm) product returns service to retailers and consumers.

In addition, the two companies agreed to co-market each other`s services in the marketplace.

With this strategic alliance, Newgistics will utilize SHGS` expertise in soft goods processing, while SHGS will employ Newgistics` returns management solutions for catalog, Web and multi-channel retailers.

Their special expertise in treatment and disposition of apparel items offers our retail apparel customers the highest quality reclamation possible for returns and products going back into the fulfillment cycle," said Newgistics CEO Clarence J. SHGS will process all apparel and other soft goods returned through Newgistics` ReturnValet program. Newgistics provides SHGS a comprehensive returns management solution, including physical points-of-presence for returns, integrated software and a complete package of shipping, warehouse, disposition and liquidation services that deliver improved operational efficiency, increased asset recovery and real-time business intelligence.

Through the Newgistics ReturnValet program, consumers can easily return catalog and online merchandise purchases through two convenient methods. Consumers can go to one of more than 4,000 participating mail and parcel centers nationwide while receiving friendly customer service, quick credit and discount coupons offered by the retailer. Or, for maximum convenience, they can simply affix the pre-paid mailing label enclosed with their merchandise to their return package and drop it in the U.S. Postal Service system.

The agreement with SHGS will complement Newgistics` existing partnership with USF Processors, who provides processing and disposition services for hard goods returned through the ReturnValet process.
