GSI Commerce hires a new CIO

GSI Commerce Inc. has named Stephen J. Gold as executive vice president and chief information officer. Gold will oversee the company’s technology and information services organization.

Before GSI Commerce, Gold was corporate vice president of U.S. Human Health Information Services for Merck & Company Inc., supporting more than $15 billion per year in revenue. Before Merck & Co., Gold spent 10 years managing more than 1,600 people in the technology organization of Medco Health Solutions, one of the largest prescription benefit management firms in the United States, most recently as senior vice president and CIO.

Gold will report to Robert Blyskal, co-president and chief operating officer.
